Domain Names

When I register a domain name, do I have to setup a hosting account too?

No, while registrars don't like it, we can set it up point to our nameservers, however if someone were to type the domain in a browser, they would get an error.

If you don't want that to happen you might consider a Starter Hosting Account with a Single web page explaining the situation or your intentions along with your contact information.

Why can't I see the changes you made to my web pages?

When you go to a web site the first time, it downloads each file to you hard drive and stores them in what is called a cache. When you load a web page on a site you have already been to, your web browser checks your cache to see if the files are already there. If so, it loads them from the cache. This speeds up how fast you see a web page because you don't have to keep downloading files you already have in your cache.

Files in your cache remain until a time specified in the preference setting of your browser. Many default to 3, 9, or 30 days (since I develop and change sites so much, I set mine for 1 day).

If the web page you are downloading has changed before the files in your cache have expired, you won't see the changes until your cache expires, or you force it to grab the new files from the server.

You can force your web browser to get the new files from the web server by clicking on the "Refresh" or "Reload" button while holding down the shift key.
